The Rusting Season

After the peak foliage color passes, we enter the "rusting season".  The Maple and Birch drop their leaves and the Oak's rusty brown leaves dominate the landscape.  Most hang on throughout the autumn and winter, rattling in the cold winds.  The grey skeletons of the trees are revealed.  This is the Burnt Meadow Mountains just down the street from my house beginning their annual "rust out".  Gift#296: the changing seasons.
