I’m looking for a new car. As J can no longer drive, the idea is to get rid of both our current cars and then use the motability scheme to lease a single replacement.

J hasn’t accepted that his license will not be renewed, and his mobility has declined dramatically over the past year so he really needs to use a folding wheelchair if we’re going more than 50 yards. Even 3 years ago when I had a vw golf estate as a courtesy vehicle while mine was repaired after someone crunched it in a car park, he struggled getting in and out of the lower seats.

I’d booked an appointment with a local Hyundai showroom, and mentioned the two models I was considering. The only Bayon they had on site was being collected by a customer (so they wouldn’t even open it for me to assess the size of the boot) and if I did decide to get one then it would be next May before it was available. And the Kona wasn’t really suitable.
