Removed from yesterday's twenty-two PC's, a corresponding number of graphic adapter cards. One of the exercises for the Computing Students, will be to upgrade the graphics of the PC's, by installing these (or other) such cards, and associated drivers/software.
You can tell I didn't get out Blip hunting today...
Raining on the way home. There were numerous bored workers on the Kessock Bridge, waiting for the rain to stop, and things to dry off. They were all set to start tarmacking. Stopped to query one fella that was over on the current Public side of the bridge, and ended up having at least a forty minute blether about all manner of engineering and local topics. He certainly knew the bridge inside-out, and has been looking after it, and others, for many years.
Those holes I quipped about recently, were for ties to temporary mini-columns that were used to make suspension areas of the bridge, when it was originally being built.
Gave the sea kayaking a miss tonight. Not because of wimping out of a wet session (rescues, attempted rolling, and larking about in the water... rather than the boats), but more to protect my back. It's been giving the usual warning twinges that have previously led to problems. Problems that have curtailed most activities through too many recent Summers. It's nearly always this time of year too. Somewhat depressing thought. Especially as I've a full compliment of holiday leave to use up before the end of August.
Checked last Friday, and other than Public Holidays, I've not taken any time off at all in the past year. Whilst not anything like the number of days off the Lecturers and Students have, we still have very generous numbers of days off. Something I often feel guilty about. Then again, our pay reflects this...
As ever, no great plans, or excitement likely...
