Fascinating evening - came home from an information evening for Daughter No.1s trip to the First World War battlefields of Northern France and Belgium next week with a brief to find a relative she could look for. Tried to trace a relative of mine - nothing doing early 20th century but I got hooked and discovered somewhat to my surprise I had an American great great grandmother. Cannot fathom why anyone would migrate TO Staffordshire to marry a coal miner in the 1860s! And then husband pops up with a relative of his he thinks died at the Somme. Two minutes on the iPad and we have a certificate with picture and reference of the Belgian cemetery he is buried in. Result!
