Fog on Loch Oich

We awoke to a rather foggy Loch Oich - pictured.  We could see blue skies above, but it was pretty misty at the surface of the loch.  We waited a bit for it to clear, then went along to the pontoon at Well of the Seven Heads to visit the Loch Oich Food Company.  Just as we got there the wind got up, making mooring a bit of a faff, and the mist started piling up along the loch.  We went ashore to get delicious breakfast rolls from the café, and breakfast cake too.  We also cracked open a new game, Rummikub, while we waited for the mist to clear.

Once visibility allowed, we set off.  We had a lovely run through Laggan Avenue (one of our favourite parts of the canal, especially in autumn colours) and by the time we got out on to Loch Lochy the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day.  We had an uneventful run all the way to Banavie.

Once there we went for a walk to Sea Lock at Corpach, and then the “Treasures of the Earth” exhibition, a collection of fossils and gemstones in a rather quaint (slightly leaky, and very odd on places) museum.  There were some fascinating fossils and crystals.

Walking back to the boat we spotted Ondine Jule again – this time tied up and not causing any trouble.

We had a nice dinner out in Banavie before turning in.
