Gold coins

This is a pair of cuff links given to me on my 13th birthday, one day shy of 65 years ago to the (almost) day.

They are Kruger 1/2 pond gold coins dated 1896.

Regretfully the link has been soldered onto one side, thus defacing the coin and considerably reducing its value as a coin.
