Bright Sunflower

I shot this beauty in our backyard!

Earlier this year I decided I was not going to plant tomatoes in one of the gardens because each year the leaf rot has gotten worse.  Instead of leaving the space bare, I wanted to plant sunflowers and so I started some from seed.  After I transplanted them, some critter destroyed all but two plants.  It took a long time for them to grab a foothold and grow, but it was quite satisfying when they started to gain ground and when the flowers started opening.
