Loch Ness & Monopoly

It was pretty driech today, but the wind had dropped enough for us to head along Loch Ness to Fort Augustus.  It was a pleasant trip and while I took the helm most of the way MrsCyclops and CyclopsJnr had a LONG session of Junior Monopoly (pictured).  I joined in some of them, but did so terribly I was thrown out.

We arrived safely at Fort Augustus and decided to call it a day rather than locking up in the rain.  Someone else managed to run their boat aground near the entrance to the canal, so we watched them getting rescued.  Then found a cafe for cake, explored some shops, played Uno in the pub, then got fish and chips to take back to the boat for dinner.

We got some nice things in a lovely glass shop last time we were here and couldn't help buying some more.  They were making little glass nessie ornaments (with just glass rod stock and a very hot flame) and CyclopsJnr watched fascinated.  He was thrilled to watch one made to his own specifications and then buy it while it was still warm!

Around dinner time the rain stopped, there was a beautiful rainbow, and the sun broke through in the distance.  The water in the locks sparkled in the low sun.  We're hoping this is a good indication the forecasts are right and the storm has passed - hopefully we'll get little wind and only a spot or two of drizzle over the next few days...

Extras:
 - Our boat safely moored up in Fort Augustus
 - MrsCyclops and I at the locks.
