X marks the spot
I went up to Elm Row for a couple of messages (coffee, principally), but took advantage of a tram which did seem comfortingly warm and solid given Storm Babet raging around us. On my way back in to the house I noticed that markings have appeared on one of the trees in the square. Had to refresh my memory of the cooncil's heiroglyphics (I'd remembered a yellow or orange cross means Dutch Elm, gotta come down urgently) - the white cross means felling, but since there's also a white spot lower down (which indicates surgery required) D reckons the cross and the line beneath might indicate that just the right hand trunk has to come down. We shall see.
