The Exuberant Tourist

I had a morning in the office where I just wanted to put my keys down walk out and never go back, but with a bright sunny day on the outside I escaped and wandered down through the city.

I had a shot in mind but as I walked down towards the location I noticed a series of new murals, I am assuming to try and enhance the riverside ahead of next years Commonwealth Games. There are four of these panels and I decided to test shoot them for another day. I was not alone, there was a proper photographer several DSLR's slung about his body and a very serious look on his face grumpy with the pedestrians who dared to walk through his field of vision.

I could hear the laughing and singing of foreign voices coming along the river, it was lovely to hear the excitement even though I had no idea what they were saying or singing. The proper photographer huffed and puffed and decided enough was enough but I just lurked on the traffic island to try and shoot between the traffic. I was shooting this when two of the owners of those joyous voices appeared. Smiling from ear to ear and full of mischief they shouted over and waved and decided it would be fun to dance for the camera. The proper photographer by now all packed up looked on in dismay as I actively encouraged the tomfoolery of my foreign foils.

I got this shot and I loved the colour of the mural, the vibrant greens and the huge grin of the young man, he danced on and caught up with his more camera shy friend as soon as the traffic allowed I crossed the road to try and find my subject to try and at least get his name to share with you but to no avail they were gone.

I hope you like the energy and colour of the shot, this made me smile and lifted my spirits, as I wandered back towards the office a message and a call with my friend made my day.
