Bee autiful!

Behind the old bricks of the walled garden wild honey bees have made a nest. Not somewhere they can stay,.so two bee-keepers are gently vacuuming them up and removing comb.  What could be more redolent of the best of English country life than sitting in a sun-drenched arbour (not too close) watching their slow motion dance. Hibiscus bushes are in full flower, clumps of blancmange-pink, lilies blow their own trumpets and in the little formal flagged ponds long legged water boatman scull effortlessly. Summer still dwells here in this sheltered dip at Penrhyn Castle.
Just out of sight through the shrubbery the Castle itself is a picture of perfection looking as if it could take a lead part in any Disney film – so many towers, so many gargoyles! Its existence perhaps ought to be deplored, having been built by income from slavery in the sugar plantations, but in fact it is delightful, and can now be visited and enjoyed  by the ranks of the free workers of today.
