Harvest at St Mary’s

Very heavy rain in the night, it actually woke me at 2.30 am hammering on the Velux windows but by the time everyone was ready for off this morning it was just light rain.
Eda’s school Harvest Festival was moved to this church right opposite her school so we arrived in time to park at the top of the hamlet and walk down as there is very limited parking.
It was raining a bit but not enough for a hood or umbrella.

Eda’s class (reception and Yr 1) did a harvest poem and there were a couple of whole school songs which were good fun. Years 4, 5 and 6 did a song accompanied by ukulele and read poems they had written. A lovely way to end the half term and for us to share and Eda seemed really pleased to see us there.

A miracle occurred as it was sunny when we came out. After taking the car back home we walked into Bath, first had to remove my coat and then my cardigan, it was really warm and sunny! I’m very pleased as the reason we are here is because Grace and John are at a wedding in Frome. John is best man and I imagine all concerned are relieved that the forecast weather hasn’t materialised.

After lunch in Bath we got the bus back and Chris will shortly go to pick up Eda from school.

Jude has been on an outing with nursery to a Pumpkin Patch, we will pick her up later and it will be interesting to hear about it. It wasn’t till John queried her last night about seeing the ‘planet’ in Bath Abbey that we realised we hadn’t really told her it was the earth! She knew it was a planet and it was big but that was all. As we were looking up at it it was largely the southern oceans that we could see, the northern hemisphere was barely visible otherwise I’m sure we would have pointed out where we were. I did tell her all the blue was sea but she didn’t seem convinced!

Busy evening to come, what joy.
Happy weekend everyone.
