Rain Stopped Play (Wednesday 18th October 2023)

Diary blip. The builders had told me they would not be coming on Wednesday due to the forecast rain so I took advantage of the free day to visit C. in Trowbridge. Loki was there when I arrived but went out before I managed any photos and didn't return. Heavy rain meant that when I left I drove straight home.

Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Forest - Graveyard (1970)
Forest were two brothers from Grimsby who sang accapella. They became Forest when they relocated to Birmingham in 1968. They specialised in acid folk and psychedelia using medieval instruments, and were rather in the shadows of the Incredible String Band and consequently underrated in their day.
I think I did see them live when I lived in the Birmingham area, but as a support band to whoever I had gone to see, without properly appreciating them. Graveyard comes from their second album, Full Circle, and demonstrates a kind of pagan neo-classical style.  When Stuart Maconie played it on his Freak Zone show recently I discovered to my surprise that I knew it quite well, although I only have one item by them, A Glade Somewhere, which was on the Harvest label  sampler, Picnic - A Breath Of Fresh Air.
