Traveling back in time!
Tuesday
We got a bit of a late start this morning, so I was still doing my Duolingo, which I usually do after breakfast, when R reminded me it was Tuesday, and was I interested in going to Music Live at Lunch today. We checked out what was on the program today, and it was a jazz trio, so we decided we would go, however since we had breakfast late, we didn’t bother having their lunch today. The leader of the trio was a trumpeter, and a student at CCM (Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music), one of the top Music conservatories in the country, after Juilliard. He told us later in the program his two brothers are also jazz musicians. The pianist was an equally young guy, I imagine a fellow student, while the double bass player seemed a bit older. We are so blessed to have such a huge range of musical talent in this city, of all types.
While we were downtown, I thought we would go and see the current seasonal display on at Krohn (plant) Conservatory. They seem to be aiming to make displays more kid friendly these days - their Easter display featured live bunnies in a fenced in run amongst the Spring flowers, and their current display features man-made botanical sculptures of dinosaurs including Tyrannosaurus Rex, triceratops, pterosaur and more, set amongst plants and flowers, including some prehistoric plants such as cycads, horsetails and ginkgo trees. The display will be coming down next week, to be replaced by the Christmas display which opens in time for Thanksgiving toward the end of November. It gives you an idea the huge amount of work that goes on behind the scenes.
