Feathers

As so many in Britain are suffering the effects of Babet, we are staying inside because of a heat warning. The high today was supposed to be 95F (35C) although it has stayed perfectly comfortable in the house without air conditioning. The temperature afforded me plenty of time to finish all but one row of sashing on Will and Chloe's quilt which I will finish tomorrow so I can drop it off at the quilter on Monday. Fortunately I ordered the backing too so I will be able to  make sure it is big enough this time.

I woke up in the middle of the night with my right hand itching insanely. Running it under hot water finally settled it down and I was able to go back to sleep only to wake up a couple of hours later with the left hand itching. This continued on through the night with other random body parts. When trying to go back to sleep I wondered what could possibly have caused it as I hadn't touched any suspect plants. I tried to pin it on the dermatologist but I really couldn't see how anything she did could be blamed on her. I did mix meat loaf with my hands, but I have done this many times before. The only thing that was different was that I added Worchestershire sauce. It has completely subsided today and there is no sign of a rash, but I did wash all the bedding and am contemplating investing in some new pillows. Tomorrow I will turn my attention to the dog...

My thoughts are with all those who are suffering from the effects of storm Babet. I hope everybody stays safe. Weeflecky finds herself effectively stranded since the only bridge to her town is closed to both cars and pedestrians. Lady Findhorn had a very scary drive from Cullen to Edinburgh but made it home safe, and Freespiral is MIA.

We MUST stop using fossil fuel.
