Lady Fuchsia

Mid October and autumn is definitely upon us, though most things in the garden are still in full leaf. We seem to have avoided Storm Babet here in the west and, apart from a bit of drizzle, the weather has been pretty mild today.
It’s been a “tidy things up” sort of day. Shopping for things that have - or are about to - run out, as well as some meals for the freezer, which was looking extremely empty. I’ve booked a hotel for a concert we’re going to in Wales in November. We could have driven home after it but the journey would not have been pleasant if the weather was bad. This way we can do all travelling in daylight. I renewed my car insurance having been unable to get a cheaper quote anywhere else. I did get the premium down a bit by agreeing to a larger voluntary excess, so extra incentive not to run into anything for the next twelve months!
We’ve also booked Xmas lunch with the bank pensioners club and put our names down for their first outing next year - a visit to the Spitfire Hanger at Blackpool Airport, which should be a good day out.
And, finally, the kitchen is now fully restored to how it was before the dishwasher failed. I had to trim a bit off one of the kick boards to get it to fit properly (and replace the clip that broke when I tried to fit it before trimming!) but everything now looks and works as it should. We’ve run a couple of loads through the dishwasher and I’m pleased to say the dishes came out clean, dry & shiny and there were no signs of any leaks. I’m just crossing my fingers now that no more domestic appliances go wrong this year!
