Crowded street
Today was "Saints Night", Lisbon big festival night. On this night, most city neighbourhoods are sprinkled with small parties and the streets fill with people craving for sardines, music, beer and general mayhem.
For me, it was a particularly exhausting day, I might have lost a couple of years of my life.
Wake up, cake and milk breakfast, small car ride to ATM to get money for paying the lodging, pack our 4-day vacation luggage, trip to the beach, playing around the sand and waves with Marta, photo-spree on the big rocks (filled with beautiful patterns and colors) by the sea, then another quasi-chaotic lunch, menu included cuttlefish bean stew, fried cuttlefish, fried pig meat and fish with elbow pasta, panaché (shandy in english, it seems, beer + 7-Up), red and white wine, followed by an almost 3-hour drive back to Lisbon, a quick stop at home to drop the luggage and give Marta a bath, a quick stop at my parents to drop Marta for the night, then drop our car and a fast taxi ride to take us to one of the main party spots, dinner with friends, menu included pig gizzards, octopus, spicy fried potatoes and white wine, then walk around the crowded (and I do mean crowded) streets drinking lemonade, mojito and coke, a stop at a bar for some carob cake, another stop at a ginginha place to seal off the night, a 20 minute walk while trying to get a taxi, then a trip to where we had left our car and finally a quick drive back home, where I fell on the bed with much, much pleasure.
