Marvelous Marvão

Long term followers of my journal, or folk who´ve visited us, will have seen this view before, but it never fails to impress - a medieval walled town perched on an 800m high granite escarpment, named after the Moorish lord who first made it an important settlement, in the 9thC.

We made a bit of a detour to take our guest there, and then drove west to the coast, near Figueira da Foz. The rain was absolutely tipping it down, so glad we arrived safely, but we made do with soup and a sandwich at a motorway place for our dinner.

Mike is now chatting to the Brazilians, lots of loud laughter, but Sharon and I have retired to our rooms, both more than ready for shower and bed.

Gratefuls:
- mostly dry weather while we wandered round Marvão, here if you're interested to see more
- Mike driving safely through heavy rain, still pounding heavily as I type
- getting to show Sharon some of the beauty of the Alentejo, and even a bit of Spain (where she lived for ten years); we had breakfast there

Also, thanks for all your comments, hearts and stars, and please forgive scant commenting the next few days, won't have much free time, plus no internet here.
