Nice knocker

This little beauty is from Mum and Dad's old house in Croydon.  Apparently it was left by the previous owner and it remained on the front door for over 50 years when our family lived there.  

Their front door was inside a porch, but my front door is on the street and the little knocker didn't fare so well, quickly becoming tarnished in all the elements.  

Time to polish it up and bring it inside, but mostly because we have a new front door being fitted on Friday.  

I'm slightly nervous as I chose the colour & design in haste over a year ago hoping to have it installed before Christmas 2022.  It didn't materialise and the installer stopped answering our calls, eventually around about June we gave up with him, got a refund and started again.  

Fingers crossed we will have a draft proof house by the weekend!
