Cumbria Here I Come

By marpaul

Another frosty morning.  Have lots of clumps of this fungi in the lawn.  Most of the clumps survived me cutting the grass yesterday.  Apparently they are Pholiota squarrosa commonly known as shaggy scallycaps.  On reading about them they grow in clumps at the base of trees and stumps.  They aren't in this case but I have noticed that they are on top of tree roots under the lawn.
