I've done my patriotic duty for today by inventing a whole new national snack: behold the English Kebab. The endpiece of a farmhouse loaf carved open, buttered thoroughly inside, and then filled with plenty of ham and corned beef (though other meats may be substituted). Add pickle or chutney if you wish, and garnish with a slice of pork pie. Put salad on it, and you are committing treason.
