Another Musical Day

This morning the Boston Early Music Festival Exhibition opened in the Revere Hotel. We got there right when it opened and headed for the display of the instruments that had belonged to the Mozart family. The top middle photo shows the violin on the left and the viola on the right along with the Salzburg Foundation Research Director who answered all our questions. Turns out that the family did not play duets on these instruments as one was in Vienna and the other was in Salzburg. But Mozart played them both. (Be still my heart.)

Then we walked around looking at the booths with instrument makers and their wares. The photos top left and right are instruments that were on display. We spent quite a bit of time in the harpsichord room. Arvin tried out a few and we watched as many people gave them a try. That's Arvin on the bottom left photo giving one a try.

After the exhibition we walked to Emmanuel Church to watch a concert of 18th century French music. The bass viola da gamba player was amazing as was the harpsichord player. I walked around before the concert taking pictures of the church. The bottom right was its most exciting stained glass window.

We left after a rousing "La Folia" by Marin Marais and headed through the park back to our room for a little rest. That's where we are now. Soon it's off to dinner and then the final concert of the day back at the NE Conservatory of Music. We are having fun! :) Hope you are all having a great Wednesday.
