Stonehaven.
Taken with the Pentax on some out-of-date film; colour a bit screwy!
The perfect Sunday... We slept until 9.30, which is a real lie-in for us... I made breakfast, then we decided to head out to Stonehaven. The sun was shining and it felt good to walk around the down in a summer dress and flip flops! The sea cadets were competing in boat races, which we watched for a while before wandering up the old road (now closed because of landslips) to the war monument. The view is amazing! We sat at the top for a while, just watching the seagulls float past and the kayakers explore the coastline.
We'd planned to eat lunch at the harbour but we weren't the only ones to think of it, and the pub was packed! We decided to drive back to Aberdeen and eat at Palm Court. After a lovely lunch, M remembered there was a vintage car rally in Crathes, so he drove us out. There were hundreds of cars, ranging from the 1930s all the way to the 1980s. Even for someone like me, only vaguely interested in a passing way, it was fascinating. My favourite part was the birds of prey stand, though, so that probably says something!
When we got home, we wandered over to the Ferryhill to soak up the last of the sun, and sat outside. When we left, we noticed an unopened bottle of Mateus Rose wine under the table... Since we'd been sitting there for an hour and no one had claimed it, we laid claim to it and took it over to M's Mum and Dad's to have with dinner! You can't go wrong with free wine.
Dinner at M's parents' house was lovely; a full three courses so we left feeling a bit dopey! We watched Simon Reeve exploring Australia while I cut M's hair, then bed. I had an ace weekend, I'm a very lucky girly to have M to spend my time with!
