Between fen and mountains

Defeat

It was a match we could perhaps have won or drawn but circumstances made that impossible. My doubles partner, Bernard, on the left, lost his match two sets to one having won the first set. Ludovic fought back to one set all before having to retire with a torn handspring. Remy played next, only one game before he badly sprained his ankle. Then Bernard and I played the doubles which we won easily. The best thing was the ambience, particularly when we sat outside the clubhouse and enjoyed an excellent lunch. This afternoon will be given over to the rugby and the final bits of packing.
