The Young Person's Guide to the Workshop. Number 5

The Router.
A complicated tool for producing simple shapes in wood.
The power unit is like an electric drill without the chuck and handle, so is relatively inexpensive.
The cutters and attachments however are very expensive, thus providing the manufacturer with a steady positive cashflow.
The tool can be used to provide interesting shapes on the edges of pieces of wood, in the process of which large quantities of sawdust are produced.
On occasion it can also produce kindling.

Today I have changed tack and confronted the dinghy. Determined not to make it too bling, I have started on making new seats in some very reasonably priced sapele. A friendly neighbour also gave me a nearly full can of Le Tonkinois varnish. To those that are lost at this point Le T is the mutt's nuts where varnish is concerned and about the same price per kilo as caviar.
What was I saying about keeping this dinghy plain?
