Buried treasure

In the late 1990s and early part of this century, I used to be given a book each year called Super Plonk by a wine writer, Malcolm Gluck.

The author scored supermarket wines on the basis of price and taste, i.e value for money.

He recommended this wine which at the time was very inexpensive and he rated it 18 out of 20 on his scoring system.
He went on to say that if kept for 20 years this wine would be world class.

I have kept it for at least 20 years and it’s time to drink it.

It is a South African Liqueur wine, a 1996 Muscat de Frontignan Blanc by a well known South African vintner Danie de Wet.
