Friday 13? Where Is Everybody?
Everybody is the lack of volunteer guides at the Mansionhouse.
The reality is that there are only three volunteers and Pat and I are two of them? We had a very busy day with no coffee breaks. Lunch was also a moveable feast.
However, all went well with the House Manager and Assistant guiding as well.
The visitors were an interesting cross section of Scots. We also chatted with a volunteer guide from the Georgian House in Edinburgh.
She advised me of a lecture at the Georgian House about Margaret Tyndall Bruce. Her portrait is part of the Hill of Tarvit Collection and the work is hanging in Edinburgh at The Georgian House as part of the Raeburn Exhibition.
I was able to book two tickets for the lecture. Next week is looking very busy indeed.
And today’s Blipfoto entry shows four of Frederick Sharp’s favourite paintings hanging in his dressing room.
On the left, ‘Seaport’ by Abraham Jansz Storck.
Middle. Westminster Bridge and Southwark Bridge’ by Daniel Turner.
Top Right, ‘Winter Landscape by Berent Petersz Avercamp and Bottom Right. ‘The Bird Trap’ by Pieter Brueghel (the younger).
