Monster in the harbour
Ships like this always stand out in the harbour. Another very foggy morning. Got a few things done in town and in the garden.
We streamed Kalyn's game last night. She played very well. A couple of quotes from the SFU Athletics news report by Aaron Martin:
"The SFU Red Leafs, led by senior middle Kalyn Hartmann (Langley, B.C.) and junior outside hitter Brooke Dexter (Anchorage, Alaska), were phenomenal Thursday night, taking a straight-set decision over the Western Oregon Wolves in front of their home fans at the West Gym....
"Dexter and Hartmann each delivered a game-high 11 kills for SFU. In a remarkable performance, Hartmann made no errors on 15 swings for a .733 attack percentage."
Nice to see a more balanced attack with Kalyn and the other middle getting more sets in this game.
Extra photo sent to us by Renata: Kalyn's high school coach brought his school team to watch her play. He's done this in the past as well. She's such a great role model, a real team leader, always encouraging other players, and working so hard in practices and games. Maybe some of these high school players will be motivated to play at the university level too after watching someone who graduated from their school. They brought Kalyn a school sweatshirt. :-)
I still get a kick out of seeing her wearing #17, G's number when he was playing sports. She's "inherited" it and has worn it on several uniforms in different sports. Guess she inherited some of his athletic ability too, although he's not the only one in the family who passed on great genes! :-))
