Now, as I see it......

Up the Arcade

W was in London today so as I was dropping her at the station and my eye test was due, I arranged an appointment in Norwich.  No significant change in my prescription which, in some ways, is a bit of a shame as I have a small scratch on one of my lenses which isn't a big problem but is slightly irritating.  A bit of shopping afterwards; shrimp paste from an Oriental stall on the market, which I've not been able to get elsewhere, and a box of Macarons from the shop in this arcade set up by one of the contestants on 'Masterchef' in 2010.  We've had some of his cakes and brownies before which were excellent but never the macarons so I'm looking forward to trying them.

The Arcade was built in 1899 in an 'Art Nouveau' style by George Skipper who, according to Sir John Betjeman, was '...to Norwich what Gaudi was to Barcelona'.
