Ronnie's Interactive Design

Wowzer, he worked on this, almost as hard as he did on his Illustration assignment up to about a week ago!

This dear grandson of mine chose to have 2 major subjects for his 2nd year towards his Bachelors Degree in Visual Communication! .... not the easiest thing to achieve, I must tell you! He works silly hours to cope, I really appreciate his courage!

He had to do his 'Company Branding' in any way he thought fit, and decided to use all recycled materials and present it in a little wooden case. He was fortunate enough to even get 2 pens, made of recycled plastic, the black parts, and the rest made of recycled brown paper. In the lid he made compartments, top left for his business cards, below that for his branded envelopes, in the middle his branded pens and bottom right the compartment for his support CD, on which he copied all the information of the preparation for his assignment. In the bottom part of the wooden box he has his Company Letterhead' as well as a compartment for his two booklets, one with illustrations and descriptions of the 'Information Architecture' and the other other with his 'Corporate Identity'. He also had to write a little 'Magazine' on the subject of Interactive Design, which was saved on his CD as well. I am quite proud to announce that he got a 70% mark for his whole effort. We actually thought he should get a bit more, don't we always, but the standard of The Open Window School of Visual Communication is extremely high and this is apparently a very high mark for a student to achieve there! I am so proud of him!!

The Illustration assignment was the postage stamps, portraying South Africa's Lighthouses and was handed in last week, I am not too sure whether I am allowed to blip it before the final decision was made as to which student's work has won the prize and will be used by Post Office next year. I thought it best to wait till after the announcement was made, and then I'll ask permission to blip it, but eisch, it is so beautiful, in my heart I truly feel his has a good chance to win! (This is the grandma speaking, remember!) Hehe!! But I will, of course, keep you posted on that one!! ;-)
