A mini tour today...
...starting in Stockbridge for coffee and a wander...
Next to the National Trust property at Mottisfont. It was a medieval priory which Maud Russell turned into her home in the 1930s. See extras for the clear chalk stream where we saw trout feeding, the walled gardens, the cellarium - spooky goings on planned for Halloween - and an extract from the Janet and Allan Ahlberg exhibition in the upstairs rooms.
Onward to Romsey for lunch and a look round the Abbey. The collage shows the latest acquisition - the Florence Nightingale window.
Both places had excellent self-guided tours, and very helpful volunteer guides!
It was raining by late afternoon, so we came back to The Running Horse for a cuppa ;)
