One eye open
The enormous splash of Tilly falling off the fisherman's platform into the river made me jump!
Squelching and sliding in the muddy shores of the River Avon amongst the reeds, water 1cm from the top of my wellies, camera in hand, did feel a tad precarious! Fractionally worried about sinking further in - well yes I was - but it seemed like the only solution to getting a picture of the damsels. Tilly just added to the drama! Grabbing her swiftly by the collar I hauled the muddy pup up the bank with a few choice words - she didn't look too happy about it herself!
It had been a bit of a bleak morning on the photography front due to the weather; mostly quite windy and very dark grey clouds overhead. Everything living was hunkering down but the wooden platform set into the water was slightly sheltered and warmer. The odd break in the clouds brought out the damsels and they looked fabulous dancing over the lily-pads.
I needed the zoom lens which is in to the Canon repair shop as it has never focused properly from the start - it never did manually focus at all! So the only thing for it was to get in there, down and dirty, into the smelly river water but it was too deep and not very satisfactory. Even less satisfactory was the wet dog on the car seat!!
