My Cornish Ancestors

A very interesting email from my cousin who is researching our Cornish Ancestors. ( we met in Cornwall in May)

He has found out about Richard our 1st Cousin 3x removed, born in Germoe in 1873.
A tin miner he set sail for Cape Town on the Union Castle ship ‘ RMS Briton’ .

Probably to work in the goldfields.

In 1901 he was back in Germoe and married in the village church. Two weeks later he emigrated to US headed for Ishpeming.

In 1903 he moved to Wardner, Idaho, US

An area rich in silver.
Richard’s wife joined him later that year and their daughter was born in 1906 in Butte, Montana.

Another silver mining area.
He was naturalised a US citizen in 1907.
Their son was born in April 1908 but only lived a few hours, dying of Pneumonia.

Three years later Richard died of Pyaemia.
His wife remarried 10 years later to another Cornishman who had also emigrated to US.
From here my cousin has continued with his research which has led him to New Zealand!

He has certainly done a lot of research, especially finding all these photos along with marriage, birth, and death certificates.
I know this is of no interest to anyone else but I wanted to record it for my journal.
