Fly Past

The Lac du Der - actually a huge reservoir, built to control water in the River Marne to prevent flooding after it joins the Seine - is now a well-known stopping off point for cranes migrating South for the winter. It's a bit early in the season, but we were hoping to catch a glimpse of them. There were plenty of egrets and herons around this morning but no cranes. Late this afternoon we had another look from the viewpoint and yes, there were several groups flying over, but at some distance away. It was a question of scanning the horizon trying to focus on a slight smudge in the sky & hoping the camera would focus!
