Ullapool marina and seafront
We have made it to Ullapool - hurrah!
It was a lovely journey with plenty of sunshine from Perthshire onwards. Along the route we saw a lot of evidence of the recent heavy rainfall including over-brimming rivers and streams, gushing waterfalls, and ruined crops (see the extra).
We stopped three times on the way: (1) at House of Bruar for a 'biddy' lunch, a takeaway coffee for Mr hazelh, and a quick whiz round the sale hall (for me); (2) at Contin for fuel; and (3) at the Corrieshalloch gorge to compare the state of the waterfall with that of our last visit on 27th August.
Here in Ullapool, we have checked into the Ceilidh Place, been out for a short walk in the sunshine, played one game of Scrabble and one of Azul (both won by Mr hazelh), and had a lovely meal in the hotel dining room.
Tomorrow we cross the water by ferry to the Isle of Lewis.
*to biddy = to eat a home-made picnic in a car, often executed in the car park of a tourist attraction.
Exercise today: small amount of walking.
