Another year, another pane on the door. The wingpiglet was operating the camera himself for this one, albeit by pressing and holding the remote release as he liked the mirrorflap shutterclick noise. Tantrums continue, but this was only to be expected; quite often it's so obvious that he's deliberately choosing to cry ("Can I have one?" "Yes, just one." "Can I have another one?" "No, you've already had one." "WyaaaaAAAAAUUAAGH DAADDEE SAID NOOOO") that they can be anticipated and dealt with calmly. Counting and letter-recognition progresses, though not yet beyond the stage where pretty much every word is "Does that say 'Edgar'?" even though he can reliably spot E for Edgar, D for Dog and A for Apple in isolation (and should therefore be able to tell when a word doesn't start with E for Edgar and is therefore probably not Edgar).
He's still sleeping through the night, which is the main thing. He's not had a nap on a nursery day for months but can usually be persuaded down for a wee post-lunch sleep on other days, particularly if he's been up particularly early. Forty minutes can be enough on such occasions but today it was almost an hour and an half and even then he still had to be deliberately awakened in order to get ready and out in time to attend PoP.
