He was booked out by grandparents and an auntie for last year's but woke up just in time to be able to get to the Meadows in time for the minute's silence and mass bell-tinging, though despite having hammered the spare bell I fitted to the retaining arm of his childseat for the first five minutes out of the door he didn't seem to want to ping it mre than once or twice. We rode alongside the queue all the way to the back to see how big it was (longer than last year, though perhaps not as dense all the way along) then came half-way back up before sneaking in when we got to the bit which had started to move. Having it sent along closed roads in parcels made it much faster than last year but it didn't have quite the same THIS IS HUUUGE feeling, swelled last year by everyone bunching back up again on the High Street whilst the few police dealt with North Bridge. He was let out to scuttle around the Parliament area for a wee while but looked as if he was almost paying attention during a couple of the speeches. We just had time for a scootle past the big slide at the bottom of Scotland Street on the way home, though he seems to need about half an hour on it to get brave enough to go down it without stopping.
