Tales of the Indigenous People of the North
When went to my old place a week ago I picked up a book of fairy tales and fables in the Same language based on old folk tales or written by contemporary writers. They have all been translated to Finnish. The illustrations are by Merja Aletta Ranttila (*1960).
To learn of another culture, one way is to read its fairy tales and stories. This book was published at the time when I was trying to learn the same language. I never learned it well enough to really read these stories, but having the translation next to the original, I had the feeling that I was reading same and the atmosphere was different.
