While on my runs

Safety

The old retaining wall was collapsing; the ponga logs were rotting, crumbling into dross washed away by the incessant rains we have had this year. We had to replace those old logs which by the time they were removed were no more than leaning against a crumbling bank. At the top, our neighbour innocently extended the front lawn to the edge which  crumbled into the ponga logs and onto the muddy path beside the house. There was no fence, no barrier to protect the wee girl from falling. There was only her innate caution around high places with edges to protect her.

Having erected a much more effective retaining wall, with more than one level so that any fall would be much smaller, we have to top the wall with a fence that cannot be climbed. Thus, the panels to be seen lying outside our garage waiting for the builders to put them up starting tomorrow. Then we will have safety. Or would it be a challenge to a growing child; as something to climb over?
