Busy Day!

Today was the first day of apple and pear juicing.  Most of the apples are not quite ready but the Egremont Russets are dropping themselves off the tree so we pressed all of the pears and a basketful of Egremonts, yielding 10 litres which are all in the freezer now.  We had to close the kitchen door at one point because we were attracting very dozy wasps and then hibernating ladybirds arrived on the ceiling in droves.  Whilst Tony continued the pressing I dug out my small paintbrush and whisked them in to a pot and rehomed them in the mini meadow.  The trouble is they hide away in corners and emerge when the heating is switched on in winter, thinking it is Spring, and have no food source.  Between us, we found a couple of dozen but I reckon others are already secreted away.

After pressing it was time to head out to be picked up by WilsdenWalker and a carful of Hobblers.  At last we had found a date when most of us, sadly not all, could get together for a curry.  Once we had ordered our food we held the Hobblwordl prize giving for the first round with WW collecting the woohoo choccy prize and Nadia picking up the boohoo choccy.  I don't think Nadia was too bothered about coming last, chocolate is chocolate after all!

And I received surprise choccy too!
