Hardwick Hall

Drove south down the M1 for a visit to this National Trust property. A magnificent house, built by Bess of Hardwick, the second richest woman in England (after Queen Elizabeth I) in the 1590s. She must have liked building houses as together with her second husband, she was also responsible for Chatsworth House.
