Lots of firsts ..
So today was my bird group day .. and we went to a wetland reserve. It was funny old light, so not brilliant for photography, but there was quite a lot about .. and a few firsts for me - avocet chicks, shelduck chicks, avocets dive bombing egrets, sandwich terns, little terns and in the afternoon, a pair of lizards.
After lunch I went to the Canal Scrape Hide at Spurn, and sat chatting with a chap, exchanging camera tips and birding experiences - on the whole birders are very fine people, and surprisingly tolerant of newbies like me.
In the evening we had NINE foxes in the garden - five adults and four cubs.
That's a record.
