After a delicious dinner, we played outside with koosh balls.

Those great squishy balls that you can play catch with or kick or squish.

Tonight those balls were thrown really, really high. Sometimes, two at one time.

I loved summer nights, when I was growing up, when we played outside until dark and past dark with neighborhood kids.

When I was visiting my parents recently at the house I grew up in, there were neighborhood kids on their bikes hanging out at the top of the street in front of my house. This flood of memories came back to me. I thought of the driveway that was perfect for rollerskating. Of the games we played and the places we rode.

Dressed in overalls and barefooted, Eli walked closer and closer to me on this summer night, allowing me to get this shot of his sweet face that I love so much.
