Ledbury - the Painted Room

Not so long ago, Ledbury Council were refurbishing their buildings. Luckily, the workmen were astute and realised that the paintings that were emerging from the depths of plaster and paper were rather remarkable.

Restorers and experts were called in and this amazing painted room was displayed in all its glory.

The aspiring middle classes couldn’t afford huge tapestries but they wanted the same effect.

Wonderful Tudor decorations, available for us to see.

Ledbury is well worth a visit.

We also went to Hellens, an amazing Tudor stately home a few miles away……even more magnificent.
