Tarka dal soup

My husband loves red lentil soup and until recently I bought it ready made, from a well known supermarket. It used to cost £1.80 a pot, it is now £3.50!!!
This recipe is for tarka dal and I reasoned that if I added a lot more water, it could be soup. It was absolutely delicious. For the cost of the ingredients, I got three pots of soup for £1.50. Result.
