The Blue Mountains

….are an hour and a half’s drive west of Sydney. Many tourists add it to their list of ‘must see’ places when they visit Australia. In nice weather there are lovely views and trendy villages to explore . Our view of the mountains is 99% like this. Endless roadworks and rain or mist. We drove up today to meet our son in law who came to collect his dog Champ who has been staying while they went to Vietnam. Cathy and the kids didn’t sleep on their bumpy overnight flight so were fast asleep. I was sorry not to see the grandchildren but understand. 

This is the village of Medlow Bath. On the left is an upmarket resort style old hotel with magnificent views into the Megalong Valley. A huge disappointment if you were there today between the rain and the road works. We are getting a great rain here in Bathurst after a very dry period. I’m feeling glad I’m not camping like many visitors to the Bathurst races. The trip was pretty awful, 3 hours of rain.
