‘parkrun Country Number Six Done!’

We made it to Rheinpark Parkrun in Cologne this morning. It was a special event to celebrate German Unity Day today and took place in a park just across the river from the cathedral. It was our first parkrun in Germany and the sixth country in which we had done one.
.
Nearly 200 people took part - around ten times the usual number - swelled by a large number of parkrunners from Britain, including a contingent from Scotland - several of whom we either knew or had heard of!

The Rheinpark team was well up to speed in dealing with the numbers and even had cakes, tea and coffee organised for us as the local cafe was closed for the holiday!

In the afternoon, we visited the inside of the Cathedral and also went on a fascinating Virtual Reality tour of Cologne in 1926. It's pretty disorienting to come back to Cologne 2023!

Before that, and after a quick bite in a local cafe, and while using their facilities, I came across the feature in the extra. While I'd heard of this sort of thing before, it was the first time I'd actually seen it. I read somewhere that it really does make the cleaners’ work much easier!
