Nearing the Col D'Aspin

The wife enjoying the views nearing the top of the Col D'Aspen. After lunch in the attractive town of Arreau we started on the ascent, first through pastures and woodlands then meadows with a profusion of wild flowers. Higher up the flora was more montane with natural rock gardens at the roadside.

Cumulus clouds started to billow in the warm afternoon and we heard cracks of thunder not too far away. We had a quick coffee near the bottom of the fast, sweeping descent then outran the rain to Aste.
