Not only are the Ukrainians using decoys to get the Russians to waste their artillery, they are then using it to figure out where the Russians are firing from so they can pinpoint them. 

Russia is the biggest donor of tanks to Ukraine. The problem is that a lot of them are T-72B3s. They suck and the Ukrainians don’t have a lot of experience with them. In frustration, a Ukrainian soldier called Russia to get help fixing a malfunctioning one. He spoke to Uralvagonzavod, a company that manufactures T-72B3 tanks. The soldier described the defects of the tank. The Russian thought he was talking to another Russian, and promised to report the problems. This was not enough for the soldier. He wanted a bigger boss from the tank factory on the phone. The management guy admitted that there were problems with the tanks and asked the Ukrainian for a more detailed account of the problems on WhatsApp.

“I am from the second mechanized battalion of the 54th brigade of Ukraine. We want you to make your wagons better so that they work more reliably the next time we take them as spoils of war. Kudos to Ukraine,” Kotshevnik said.

The Russian on the other end of the line burst into laughter.

“ Tell your bosses that it is difficult for the Ukrainian army to use this equipment. Please make it better. Kudos to Ukraine.”
