Lac du Bouchet - 8 months later

The last time I went to the lac du bouchet was back in November when I was new to Le Puy. This time was just as sunny and just a lovely. I met Delphine and Ludo at 11 (depsite not feeling too fresh from the night before - thanks for waking me up at 8.30 with a text Ludo!) and we decide to picnic by the lac. Spent the afternoon dipping our toes in the freezing water, sunbathing, reading and generally chatting. Despite filling my whole bag with coucous and swearing loudly in french, I could say it was a pretty blissful afternoon. Came home for sunbathing on the balcony and in time to get ready for dinner with the mayor and politicians of Aiguilhe.

The meal was at the l'Ecu D'or. I was expecting good things because I'd heard this restaurant was recommended. All I can say is that I'm glad it was the mairie paying and not me. The started was some kind of fish mousse, come soufle, come omlette - not idea. The meat was aparently female deer (don't know the word for that in English) with some nice dauphinois potatoes. Unfortunately the dessert was verveine flavoured and the fromage blanc was average. The company was somewhat strange. A group of people at least 40, and me! I attached myself to the only person vaguely my age (24) and had a relatively nice evening. After the meal, we headed into town for a few drinks, ending up in the Priviledge. Well, not somewhere I'll be going again anytime soon! The highlight was definitely seeing Sebastien dancing! And the man who sat next to me Fabien, was very nice, as was the gardener Anthony who asked for my number! Sebastien took pleasure in telling everyone that I find the French to be too drageur... they prove me right too often!
